The exact date will be announced in the Courses section. For registration you need your personal data, an email address and the IBAN and BIC of your bank account.
If possible, please use your university email address (…@fau.de). Otherwise our mails may end up in the spam folder of your provider.

Online courses

For online courses via Zoom, please note the following data protection and technical information:

For online courses, participants are responsible for creating a safe environment to exercise. Online courses are not covered by the statutory accident insurance. Participation is at the participant’s own risk.
Participation is on a voluntary basis.
Before participating, you should inform yourself about the data protection risks involved in using Zoom (https://www.rrze.fau.de/medien-entwicklung/digitales-arbeiten/zoom/).
For data protection reasons, only the Zoom version provided by the computer centre (RRZE) can be used. Login is via the FAU SSO without passing on the password to Zoom.
Information on existing data protection risks can be found in the section on data protection and accessibility as well as in the FAQs.
To protect your privacy (especially in private rooms), you can use the existing Zoom functions such as „deactivate camera“ or „virtual background“. You can control the camera and microphone when entering the meeting and during the meeting via the control panel. Pseudomysing is also possible.
Information on using and installing Zoom can be found on the RRZE website.
To ensure that everything runs smoothly, check the technical requirements in good time. Take a look at the RRZE’s recommendations on video conferencing beforehand.

Course fee

A course fee is charged for each course. For students, the fee is calculated to cover the instructor costs. Staff members additionally pay a part of the operating costs. External users must be members of the Förderverein and pay the full operating costs. In terms of calculation, this roughly corresponds to these percentage differences:

Fee for students = 100%
Fee for staff = 150
Fees for external students (additional membership in the Association required) = 200%.
For each course, the fees for the groups are listed in the order of students/staff/fundraising association members. The course fee is paid once and applies to all dates in the listed course period, which is usually the lecture period.

Payment of the course fee

The course fee is collected by SEPA direct debit.

Bank account

The course fee will be collected by direct debit 14 days after the start of the course period. You will need an account at a bank within the EU/EEA, Switzerland or Monaco. You will need your Iban and BIC to register. We recommend saving the bank details electronically and copying them into the form to avoid incorrect entries. If the direct debit cannot be made for reasons for which the participant is responsible (e.g. account not covered, incorrect bank details, etc.), you will be automatically cancelled and will lose your place on the course.

Cancellation and refund

Cancellation and refund

It is possible to withdraw from a course within the first 14 days after the start of the course period. You can find the last cancellation date on the homepage under Dates. You can cancel a course yourself via the link in your booking email. Alternatively, you can send an email to hochschulsport@fau.de. Refunds of course fees after the end of the cancellation period are only possible in exceptional cases with justification. In these cases, a cancellation fee of 10€ will be charged. You can find the cancellation deadline under Dates.

Important! If you register in pairs, e.g. for dance classes, both dance partners will not be cancelled automatically. Please send us an email so that we can cancel your dance partner(s).

Participation ticket

The participation ticket will be sent to you by email after registration. Please print it out and carry it with you for inspection.

Gender information

For some of the courses we need to know the gender of the participants, e.g. for the sauna ladies or gents. These courses can only be booked if the gender is indicated. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. As a rule, it is possible to book courses with „no indication“.

Disabled

In principle, the same fees apply for disabled persons as for non-disabled persons. In cases of special hardship, part of the fees can be waived by submitting an informal application to the Head of University Sports.

Become an instructor

We are always looking for new exercise instructors for university sports. If you have trained as an instructor in a club or have been active in a sport for a long time and are interested in working with young people, then you are welcome to apply to become an instructor. If there is a demand in the respective sport, you will most likely be able to take over a course.

Even if your sport is not yet part of the university sports programme, you can still apply. If there is demand from participants, we are constantly expanding our range of courses so that new sports also have a chance.

If you are interested, please send an email to sven.rohtla@fau.de.

Liability and accidents

The Free State of Bavaria, the University and its staff are liable for all claims only insofar as they have caused damage intentionally or through gross negligence. This limitation of liability does not apply to the violation of essential contractual obligations or to damage resulting from injury to life, body or health or to claims under the Product Liability Act or due to fraudulent conduct on the part of a contractual partner. There is no legal insurance cover if third parties suffer personal injury or damage to property while practising the sport. It is recommended to take out private liability insurance.

Accident (insurance)

Fully enrolled students of FAU and GSO enjoy the accident insurance protection of the statutory accident insurance for all sports courses, but not for courses that are marked as „free practice“, that are conducted online or that do not fall into the category of sports in the narrower sense. This only applies to courses organised by the university sports department itself. Courses offered by external organisers, e.g. clubs, are not covered by the statutory accident insurance.

In the case of online courses, the participants themselves are responsible for creating a safe environment for practising sport. Online courses are not covered by the statutory accident insurance. Participation is at your own risk.

Accidents suffered by FAU and GSO students must be reported to the State Accident Insurance Fund using the form provided by the University Sports Office. The complete report must be handed in at the university sports office.

The university cannot accept any liability for theft. Lockers are located in front of the gym.

Data protection

Personal data collected in the course of registration will be used exclusively for the purpose of course implementation, controls and statistical purposes. Data will not be passed on to third parties and will be deleted one year after the end of a period. Account data will be forwarded to the house bank for execution and then deleted immediately.

Travel canellation insurance

In the case of high course fees, it is advisable to take out travel cancellation insurance.

Exclusion

Verifiably false personal details will lead to exclusion from the course or from all university sport at FAU.
